How does percentage pay work for ATS company flatbed drivers?
ATS company flatbed drivers can earn 26% of the line-haul revenue on loads under 1,200 miles or their applicable cents-per-mile (CPM) rate, whichever pays more. Percentage pay allows drivers to earn more on higher-value loads, while CPM provides a mileage-based minimum.
For example, if an eligible load has $1,500 in line-haul revenue, 26% equals $390. If the applicable CPM calculation pays less than $390, the driver receives the $390 percentage-based payout. If the CPM calculation pays more, ATS pays the higher CPM amount.
Do ATS flatbed drivers get paid for tarping and oversized loads?
Yes. ATS company flatbed drivers can earn additional compensation for qualifying work such as tarping and hauling over-dimensional (OD) freight. These earnings are paid in addition to applicable base compensation and can increase a driver's total pay.
- Tarping: $80 for a legal load and $100 for an OD load*
- Over-Dimensional Pay: 50% of all billed OD charges*
- Detention rate: 25% of what is billed to the customer
- All drops and pickups, except the initial pickup and final drop: $40 each
- Layover and breakdown: $150 after the first day
- Lodging reimbursed up to $90 per day if layover is authorized
- Truck Order Not Used (TONU): 25% when billed to the customer
- New York City delivery pay: $75
- Hourly pay: $20/hour for local work at a terminal
*If paid percentage on a particular load, you'll earn 26% instead of the rates stated.

ATS OTR flatbed company drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Class A CDL and meet DOT qualifications. Drivers must also have either six months of OTR flatbed experience or one consecutive year of OTR experience within the past three years, along with a safe and stable work history.

Qualified drivers receive hands-on flatbed training in cargo securement, tarping, load checks, and safe equipment practices. This is not entry-level CDL training, so applicants must have the required OTR driving experience.
